Stevie Wonder Says He Feels 30 Years Younger After Kidney Transplant; “I Feel Like I’m About 40 Right Now”

Legendary soul singer Stevie Wonder has revealed that he had a kidney transplant in December of last year. According to the icon, he feels 30 years younger after the successful procedure.

“I told my daughter Aisha, ‘I’m going to be like five years younger than you now. I’m going from being 70 to being 40.’ I feel like I’m about 40 right now. I’m feeling great,” the 70-year-old said during a virtual press conference to give fans an update about his health.

During his set at British Summer Time Hyde Park last summer, the singer confirmed that he had already found a kidney donor and that he was scheduled to have the transplant.

“I was blessed with a new kidney, and that happened on December 6, 2019 … I feel great. My voice feels great.”

Aside from his health victory, the “Isn’t She Lovely” vocalist is revamping his career. He recently left Motown Records after nearly 60 years. He has found a new home with Republic Records, where he has now released two new singles: “Can’t Put It in The Hands Of Fate” and “Where Is Our Love Song,” with all proceeds from the latter going to the nonprofit, Feeding America, and Wonder has even launched his own imprint under Republic called So What The Fuss Music. However, despite his many new ventures, Wonder says that Motown will always be home.

“Even though I have left Motown, I never leave Motown. That’s Detroit. So I’m sure that we can figure out how we can do some things at Motown. Maybe I’ll do my ‘Gospel Inspired by Lula’ with Motown. We’ll work it out,” he said, referring to the gospel project he has in the works dedicated to his late mother, Lula Mae Hardaway, who passed away in 2006.
