On an episode of “The Real,” Tamera Mowry-Housley talked about gaining over 70 pounds while carrying her youngest child. Further into the conversation, the talk show host divulged the difficulty she’s had trying to lose the post-pregnancy weight.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What really hit me was when Tamera brought up body shaming, and how we often body shame ourselves. Over the years, I️ have learned that we are often our worst critics. Opinions from others do hurt at times but what hurts the most is how hard we are on ourselves.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It doesn’t matter if you’ve been overweight all your life, gained weight over the years, or just had a baby, we have to learn to love and appreciate ourselves. We often get so caught up in what other people think of us, that we begin to make adjustments based on others’ opinions.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When you are sick and tired of how you look in the mirror, you will make a change. But the change is on your terms, no one else’s. So stop body-shaming yourself and learn to love and accept who you are.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You are beautiful and most importantly, you are “You,” and no one else can change that.
