This past weekend, Mary J Blige, Pepsi, and Live Nation Urban brought out the hottest stars in entertainment during the inaugural Strength of a Woman Festival and Summit in Atlanta, GA. Over three days, the festival featured performances and participation by Mary J Blige, Chaka Khan, Xscape, Kiana Lede, Ella Mai, City Girls, Angela Yee, Jermaine Dupri, and more
During the VIP welcome reception on Thursday, the Atlanta Mayor’s office and city council honored Mary and the festival, proclaiming May 5, 2022, “Strength of a Woman Day” in the city of Atlanta.
The weekend kicked off on Friday with a Concert at Tabernacle, sponsored by Pandora, with a performance by MK XYZ, Inayah, Omeretta the Great, Rubi Rose, Emotional Oranges, Sevyn Streeter, and Kiana Lede, and the Comedy Show at the Buckhead Theatre featuring Ms. Pat, Erica Duchess, and Taneshia “Just Nesh” Rice.
Saturday’s festivities began with Mary, Supa Cent, Angie Martinez, and Tasha K. Smith sharing personal stories of triumphs, perseverance, love, and friendship that have been crucial in their journeys to success at the Strength of a Woman Summit held at The Gathering Spot. Emmy Award-winning TV host and journalist Tamron Hall moderated the raw and honest conversation.
Attendees heard from several speakers and experts discussing beauty, tech, finances, entrepreneurship, Black female reproduction and health, wellness, and more.
Mary, Pepsi, and Live Nation Urban provided the perfect Saturday night with a fantastic lineup of performances by City Girls, Omeretta the Great, Baby Tate, Queen Naija, and Atlanta’s own Xscape and the legendary Chaka Khan. Mary closed out the concert with a two-hour set performing hit after hit. Usher, Jermaine Dupri, and Summer Walker surprised the audience with memorable performances, and R&B songstress Ella Mai performed two songs for the crowd. Method Man also joined mary on stage to perform their massive 1995 hit, “All I Need.”
Headlined by Kierra Sheard and La’Andria Johnson, the festival ended with a beautiful Mother’s Day Gospel Brunch at City Winery. The event was the perfect closing for a weekend dedicated to Black women and their undeniable strength, beauty, and power.
Strength of a Woman has plans to return to Atlanta in 2023. It’s the first Festival and Summit to be led by an all-black female team with Blige, Ashaunna Ayarr, and Nicole Jackson.
