Student Attacks Disabled Teacher As Part Of “Slap A Teacher Challenge”

A student has been arrested after attacking a disabled teacher for the viral “Slap a Teacher Challenge.”

Larrianna Jackson was apprehended Wednesday when police responded to Covington High School in Louisiana about a physical assault on the teacher. Authorities discovered that the incident was recorded, likely for the popular social media challenge that shows students hitting their teachers. In the cell phone footage, the educator is seen sitting at her desk speaking with 18-year-old Jackson, who is standing up. For no apparent reason, Jackson began punching the teacher and pulling her from her chair. Once the teacher was on the ground, Jackson continued beating her.

The 64-year-old teacher was transported to a local hospital for injuries sustained during the attack. Jackson was arrested and charged with suspicion of battery of a school teacher, a felony. She remains in St. Tammany Jail.

Two additional warrants were issued for the students who recorded the attack. One juvenile and 18-year-old Trinity Gervais turned themselves into the Covington Police Department, charged with violation of unlawful posting of criminal activity for notoriety and publicity, which is a misdemeanor.

TikTok has issued a statement condemning the violent challenge.

“The rumored ‘slap a teacher’ dare is an insult to educators everywhere,” the company wrote.
