A man acting as a hitman-for-hire was able to help authorities capture a jealous college student who wanted her lover’s wife dead.

According to an FBI search warrant affidavit, the plot seemed unreal.

Apparently, the “hitman” was a dark web cybercriminal who was so spooked by the Washington State woman’s request that he ratted her out to the feds.

Authorities believe the philandering husband wasn’t disturbed by his mistress actions; he instead saw them as a “sign of her dedication and affection for him,” the affidavit stated.

The unsealed warrant obtained by The Daily Beast accuses the unidentified suspect of creating email addresses that were used to register a Facebook account to communicate to her lover, who has been identified in court records as J.M. She also contacted financial institutions and a cashier at her community college with the email address.

The FBI first learned of the plot in February of last year when the bureau’s National Threat Operations Center received an anonymous top from a ProtonMail account associated with a Phoenix, Arizona location.

The tipster claimed to be the administrator of the dark website that offered contract killings in exchange for money.

A week before then, the informant stated that a customer transferred $5,000 in Bitcoin to have the murder carried out in the Seattle area.

“Just kill her ASAP. I don’t care how just make sure she’s dead. I’d prefer if you shoot her in the head,” the customer instructed and then added that the victim worked for a corporation in Bellevue. She added: “I don’t know if that helps you in some way. She has a 3 year old son that she picks him up at 5 P.M., so she usually gets home around 5ish. Please don’t do anything to the boy. That’s all. Thanks[.] Send me proof when the job’s done.”

The hitman also confessed to authorities that the hitman website wasn’t real. It was actually a Bitcoin scam.

“I feel that all targets that have been paid for are in danger,” the con artist with a conscience wrote the FBI. “Customers that pay to kill someone show that they are serious about killing that person[.] I need to be in contact with you and to provide you with the target information, payments evidence, and other information to trace the customers. Customers don’t give their name or details and hide their IP, but still can be tracked.”

The tipster also sent a photo of the wife, and ironically one of the federal agents knew her. They then met with the victim to tell her someone wanted her dead.

When they asked her if she knew who may have wanted her dead, she responded with a few possible far-fetched possibilities. But then she spoke on an unusual incident that took placed two days before Christmas 2019.

She said that a young woman came to the house and asked to speak to her husband, J.M. When she informed her that he wasn’t there, she said she was there to speak to her and asked if she could come in. The wife locked the door, and the woman walked away.

The husband said he didn’t know who the woman was.

Federal agents then asked her about her relationship with J.M., which she admitted had been “strained for the last few years. She also said there became an emotional distance between them after he attended a 2018 Landmark conference and asked for a divorce. But the wife said she turned down that idea “for the sake of their son.”

The wife told the agents she “had not had an extramarital affair and did not believe her husband had either.”

J.M. was also interviewed that day and claimed he didn’t know anyone who would want his wife dead. He also lied about having an affair, but later, he admitted that he met someone at that 2018 Landmark conference.

“When describing his job, J.M. stated that he has ‘great relationships with people at work,’ his clients ‘love’ him, he ‘just had a big win’ earlier in the day, and does not believe he makes enemies,” the filing adds. “He stated the ‘only major points of serious contention are that lawsuit against me and that thing out in Phoenix,’” referring to the old co-worker with whom his wife hadn’t gotten along.

He told authorities about the college student who liked him and admitted to their sexual relationship, which he said lasted “six months or so, a couple of times, here and there.”

“He claimed the romantic relationship ended in August 2019. J.M. said he last saw [the young woman] in January of 2020 when she told him she still loved him,” the document details.

J.M. said he had helped his mistress out by giving her money a few times, including earlier that month, he gave her $2,000 after she said her parents lost their life savings in a burglary. However, she “gave him no indication of being a threat,” J.M. insisted.

Federal authorities then interviewed the college student in February 2020, and she claimed the last time she saw J.M. was three weeks before that day when they went to Portland, Oregon together.

At first, she denied putting out a hit on the wife but eventually confessed to soliciting it.

Authorities then returned to J.M., who admitted he lied and said he even asked the suspect why she came to their home that day. J.M. told authorities that she said she was there to kill his wife and brought a knife with her.

Sheesh, it be your own husband.

That wife should strongly consider leaving that man if he considers the actions of the lover to be dedication. Both are incredibly ridiculous.
