Authorities arrested Shawn Laval Smith Wednesday morning in Pasadena for the fatal stabbing of Brianna Kupfer, a 24-year-old UCLA graduate student who was working alone at a furniture store.
Law enforcement sources revealed a random citizen saw the man on the street and thought he matched the ‘wanted’ photo, which prompted him to call the police. Cops arrested Smith once they arrived at the scene.
Last week, Brianna Kupfer was found dead on the luxury furniture store’s floor she worked at. Her fatal stabbing came not long after sending an ominous text message to a friend about someone giving her a “bad vibe.”
“She sent a text to a friend saying there was someone inside the location that gave her a bad vibe. Regrettably, that person did not see the text immediately,” Lt. John Radtke of LAPD said.
Police say Kupfer was working alone at the Croft House furniture store on La Brea Avenue when someone came in last Thursday afternoon and stabbed her to death.
Police are reportedly looking for a potential suspect they’ve identified as Shawn Laval Smith, who is still at large and is considered armed and dangerous.
