If Drake is a part of your workout playlist, you may want to think twice about keeping him in the rotation.
A recent study claims listening to Drake while doing a running workout can cause you to move slower. The non-scientific study tracked 60 run times of 20 different runners while they were listening to various artists. The study found that listening to Drizzy added 21 seconds per kilometer to the runner’s time & extended a 3-mile run by 1 minute and 45 seconds.
But Drake isn’t the only artist who made runners a tad bit slower. The study also showed Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Doja Cat and BTS music will have the same effect.
However, the study did show which artists’ music will help increase your running speed. Listening to Beyoncé, Harry Styles and Britney Spears while running will most likely set you into overdrive. The data collected from the study says these artists’ music took 33 seconds off their kilometer time and 2 minutes and 45 seconds off the 3-mile runtime.
While this may seem great, Men’s Health says running at a slower speed can give you an endurance boost and help you cover quickly from the workout.
