A new study has shown that the Johnson & Johnson vaccine does not stand a chance against the quickly spreading Omicron COVID-19 variant.
The research, which was conducted by Humabs Biomed SA and the University of Washington, found that in addition to the Johnson & Johnson, the Sinopharm and Russia’s Sputnik shots are not as effective against the dangerous strain.
The study also showed that while the Moderna, Pfizer, and AstraZeneca vaccines were more effective against the Omicron strain than the others, effectiveness was still decreased.
This latest development arrives just after the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended that adults take the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines over the J&J following reports of people developing a rare blood clot condition known as Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome.
In recent years, J & J has taken an irreversible hit to its reputation following claims of cancer-causing components in its powder products and mounting lawsuits, suing them in connection to multiple deaths.
