The Subway worker who defended herself during an armed robbery, and even successfully disarming the robber and convinced him to leave the sandwich shop, has been suspended by management.
Araceli Sotelo was working at a Subway location in Rockford, Illinois, last weekend when a man brazenly entered and flashed a gun at her, demanding she give him all the money in the store.
Store surveillance caught some of the encounter on video, which was leaked to a site called “Rockford Scanner,” who watermarked it and posted it online.
Sotelo claims that her manager contacted her after the altercation and was told she wouldn’t be working or paid until the video of the incident was completely removed from the internet.
Sotelo’s family has started a GoFundMe to help assist the woman with expenses related to the robbery and lost wages.
