Singer Summer Walker stole our hearts with her October 2018 mixtape, “Last Days of Summer.” The project featured popular records, “Karma,” “Prayed Up,” and her breakout single, “Girls Need Love,” which would go on to become six times platinum and earned Summer a Drake remix. From there, many became intrigued with Walker, though it was not until her October 2019 debut studio album, “Over It,” that the masses hopped on the Summer Walker bandwagon. This time around, Walker packed the album with several heavy hitters, including Usher on the single “Come Thru,” which samples his hit, “You Make Me Wanna,” and Bryson Tiller on the cut “Playing Games.” 6lack, PartyNextDoor, A Boogie wit da Hoodie and Jhene Aiko also had placements on the two-times platinum selling album.
Walker unveiled her second studio album, “Still Over It,” in November 2021, which was met with instant praise. The album helped Walker make Billboard history, with 18 of its records charting on the Hot 100 simultaneously. Considering the album was released later in the year, it became eligible for nominations at the 2023 Grammy Award, though the project was shockingly snubbed for the R&B categories when nominations were released in November 2022. Walker called out the Recording Academy for skipping over her albums.

“Still Over It” didn’t receive any recognition at the Grammys, but she did earn a nod for her work on Kendrick Lamar’s “Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers,” thanks to her being featured on the “Purple Hearts” track with Lamar and Ghostface Killah. Walker was eventually recognized for her own full body of music at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards in February 2024. Her “CLEAR 2: Soft Life EP,” released in May 2023, was nominated for Best R&B Album, though she did not take home the trophy.
While the Recording Academy may not have properly recognized her just yet, fans have not turned on the Atlanta star. Here are the five Ballerific Summer Walker tracks that every fan must have on their playlists.
