A new survey shows that people are over their likeness and presence on the internet.
Remember the good ole days on the web when you could just post freely, have fun and not have to keep up with apps and their ever-changing algorithms. Or how about those old statuses that make us cringe today? All these things and more or why more people are moving toward wanting to altogether remove their online presence.
In a new survey conducted by NordVPN, a little more than 1,00 people in the U.S., 18 and older, were asked about how they feel about the internet. According to PCMag, more than half of the respondents said they would totally delete themselves off the internet if they could. About 47 percent said they don’t trust the internet. Eighteen percent said they wish the internet never existed, and 8 percent said they don’t use the internet, the news outlet reports.
NordVPN also asked what they’d want people to know about them online and what they would pay to be able to surf the web with complete anonymity. Thirty-one percent said they’d pay up to $100, while 3 percent said they’d pay more than $1,000 for an anonymous online presence.
Would you remove yourself online if you could?
