The suspect arrested for fatally shooting Jacqueline Avant, the wife of legendary music executive Clarence Avant, has been charged with murder.
On Monday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office announced charges of murder, attempted murder, and felon with a firearm against 29-year-old Aariel Maynor. Maynor was also charged with two counts of residential burglary with person present.
As previously reported, Maynor broke into the Avant family’s Beverly Hills home on Dec. 1 around 2:30 am. He shot and killed Jacqueline during the home invasion and then shot at a security guard who was not injured. Maynor was apprehended a little more than an hour later at the site of another burglary he was allegedly committing at a residence in the 6000 block of Graciosa Drive. The suspect was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his foot and it’s believed he used that same weapon to fatally shoot Jacqueline Avant.
