Five people suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a shooting near Baltimore’s Morgan State University.

After several hours, the Police no longer considered the incident an active shooter situation by Tuesday evening.

However, Police say they have not identified any suspects, and the investigation is ongoing.

As of Wednesday, there was no description of the suspect available.

The active shooter situation was first reported around 10 p.m. ET.

“BPD is on scene of an active shooter situation in the 1700 block of Argonne Drive,” the Baltimore Police Department posted on X.  “We’re asking everyone to shelter in place and avoid the area.”

Shortly afterward, the Police provided an update, stating, “BPD is confirming there are multiple victims involved.  Please continue to shelter in place and avoid the area.”

University officials eventually lifted the shelter-in-place order and resumed shuttle services around 12:30 a.m.  SWAT officers conducted thorough searches of all building floors, performing two sweeps, before deciding to end the shelter-in-place order.

Police urged the campus community to steer clear of the area around Thurgood Marshall Hall and the Murphy Fine Arts Center.  The local Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives office is aiding in the search for shell casings and other evidence.

Classes will be canceled Wednesday, and counselors will be available to students.

According to the school’s President, David Wilson, “We will be assessing what will happen for the rest of the homecoming week as early as tomorrow morning.”

Police are still advising parents and community members to stay away from the campus and directing parents to gather at the Safeway grocery store parking lot at 4401 Harford Road, where Baltimore Police Department officers are available.

The university was celebrating its annual Homecoming festivities, according to The Times.
