A grand jury has indicted the suspects accused of shooting Trinity Gay, the 15 year old daughter of Olympic track star Tyson Gay.
38 year old Chazerae M. Taylor has been indicted on one count of wanton murder and four counts of wanton endangerment after Lexington, KY police say he played a role in creating “the environment that ultimately led to the death of Trinity Gay.” Taylor’s bond has been set at $507,500.
20 year old Lamonte Williams was indicted on five counts of wanton endangerment. 19 year old D’Markeo Taylor, Chazerae M. Taylor’s son, was indicted on one count of wanton endangerment.
A fourth man, 21 year old Dvonta Middlebrooks, was charged with wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and violation of probation and parole.
On October 16 at around 4 am, Trinity Gay and a group of friends were standing outside of a Cook Out restaurant when Trinity got caught in a crossfire between two vehicles. Trinity was shot in the neck and transported to the hospital where she died soon after.
Police have not disclosed whose bullet is responsible for Gay’s death.
Each of the suspects were originally charged with one count of wanton endangerment, however the additional wanton endangerment charges against Chazerae Taylor and Williams were tacked on after investigators identified additional people in the parking lot that night who could’ve been injured or killed by gunfire.
Tyson Gay posted a birthday message to his daughter earlier this week. She would have been 16.
