As “SWV & Xscape: Queens Of R&B“ wraps up the first and maybe final season, the ladies of SWV are not happy with how the show turned out.
During this week’s sit down with “The Sherri Show,” Coko, LeLee, and Taj dished on their experience in front of the cameras with fellow 90s R&B group Xscape. Taj admitted that SWV’s relationship with Xscape is “okay.” She initially thought the series would allow both groups to “relive their youth” and have fun with one another. Unfortunately, Taj says she doesn’t believe either group will ever get to make the memories they initially set out to. Coko chimed in and said that there has been “too much disrespect” from Xscape’s side.
“I was hoping that it would be some real women’s empowerment thing. And it would’ve been so huge,” LeeLee told host Sherri Shepherd.
The host then asked if the groups would be going on tour after all the drama, which was the ultimate goal of the show. Each woman appeared a bit cautious to answer, but Taj said she was open as long as respect was involved.
“We are not gonna be anybody’s sidekick, and we’re not gonna allow you to talk to us any way. It has to be fair for everybody,” Taj said.
Fans saw Xscape deal with internal drama before the group came to blows with SWV over everything from who should headline to which group was the bigger act. Money was also a factor, as the ladies bickered over who should get “top billing.”
One thing is for certain: SWV will be on tour this summer, with or without Xscape.
