The 2024 GRAMMY nominations have been unveiled, and it looks like several of our favs are up for accolades.
SZA is leading this year’s nods with nine total, including Record of the Year and Best R&B Performance for “Kill Bill” and the prestigious Album of the Year for SOS. Following close behind with seven total nominations is R&B rising star Victoria Monét.
Monét’s Jaguar II album has earned a nod for Best R&B Album, while her hits have collected nominations for Record of the Year, Best R&B Song (“On My Mama”), Best R&B Performance (“How Does It Make You Feel”), and Best Traditional R&B Performance (“Hollywood”).
Ice Spice has also made quite the impression on the Recording Academy, landing nominations for Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Karma,” alongside Taylor Swift. Swift has earned sixth nominations herself. Spice also shares two nods with Nicki Minaj for their record “Barbie World,” which is up for Best Rap Song and Best Song Written for Visual Media. Rihanna is also nominated in this category for her only recent single, “Lift Me Up,” from the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” soundtrack.

The Best Rap Song category is filled with stiff competition, with Doja Cat’s “Attention,” Lil Uzi Vert’s party hit “Just Wanna Rock,” Killer Mike, Andre 3000, Future and Eryn Allen Kane’s record, “Scientists & Engineers,” and Drake and 21 Savage’s “Rich Flex.” The latter single is from Aubrey and 21’s platinum-selling Her Loss, also up for Best Rap Album.
All eyes will be on the February 4th ceremony, especially regarding Minaj. If she wins either of her awards, it will mark the first Grammy for the superstar, who is gearing up to release her highly anticipated Pink Friday 2. Despite the longevity of her career, her lack of a gold trophy has been a significant point of contention among hip-hop fans.
Nevertheless, congratulations to each of the immensely talented nominees.
