During a candid interview on The Breakfast Club, rapper and entrepreneur T.I. opened up about his conscious decision to step away from political discussions and the reasons behind it. T.I. explained his stance with the hosts, sharing insights on his personal priorities and the experiences that led him to this choice.
T.I.’s Take on Political Conversations
When asked if he had made a conscious decision to stay away from political conversations, T.I. responded affirmatively. He elaborated, “It ain’t as important to me as it is to them. The political conversations I was having were out of a genuine sense of wanting to do what’s right for the community, not because I have any aspirations of being a mayor, governor, president. None of that. I don’t care about any of that.”
The Cost of Political Involvement
T.I. emphasized that his decision was influenced by the negative impact political involvement had on him and those around him. “For others, they are willing to stoop to certain levels of treachery that affect me and the people around me. It just ain’t worth it for me. I can only help until it hurts me, you know what I’m saying? And it just ain’t worth it for me. I’m out.”
Reflecting on Past Political Support
The rapper also reflected on past incidents where his support for a political candidate led to personal attacks. He recounted, “A lot of the stuff people were saying about me, and then dragging my wife into it, had a lot to do with my support for one political candidate. The opposing candidate’s supporters used henchmen to come out and try to muddy my name, thinking it would remove my ability to support the person who would beat them.”
Choosing Peace Over Politics
Ultimately, T.I. made it clear that his focus now lies on his family and personal well-being. “At this point, I just want to live my life, continue to raise my children, do the best I can for me and my family, and humbly allow the people around me to continue to flourish. I’m not tripping if y’all want to do whatever politically, y’all gonna do it.”
