Taco Bell is adding potatoes back to its menu after months of fan petitions. Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes and the Spicy Potato Soft Taco will be added back on March 11.
“I feel like I’ve almost heard from everybody in the country on the potato bites,” Liz Matthews, Taco Bell’s global chief food innovation officer, said.
According to CNN, the items were removed after the pandemic started in March. The potatoes take time to prepare, and the company wanted to cut down on time, so it took some items off its menu. Vegetarians were not happy.
“The return of our beloved potatoes is just the first step in showing our fans the strong continued commitment to vegetarian we are making this year,” Matthews said. ” We have long been a leader in the vegetarian space, but this year, we have more meatless options in store that vegetarians, veggie-curious, and even meat-eaters will love.”
Taco Bell has also partnered with Beyond Meat to test new plant-based protein.
