With the popularity of Mexican Pizza, Taco Bell is now testing different variations of its prized menu item.
The first of the newbie flavors is the Cheesy Jalapeño Mexican Pizza. The spicy selection features the same seasoned beef, refried beans, tomatoes, cheese, and “Mexican Pizza Sauce” as the original but offers a nacho cheese topping and jalapeño slices on its two layers of tortillas. This version will be sold only in the Oklahoma City area for a limited trial run.
Next up is the Triple Crunch Mexican Pizza. Instead of two, this bulky version will have three layers of tortilla. It will also feature double helpings of refried beans and the tasty meat. Envision two Mexican Pizzas piled on top of one another. That is essentially what Omaha, Nebraska, customers will be met with when they order the Triple Crunch.
An all Veggie Mexican Pizza is also in the works, but that one has not yet received a release date or testing location. Though judging by the massive success of the menu item, it’s no surprise that Taco Bell is looking to offer its fanbase a wide variety, as any good pizzeria would.
In September, the original Mexican Pizza returned permanently after a widespread outcry from supporters who expressed their admiration for the pizza online. The COVID-19 pandemic forced it away from restaurants for a while, but a Change.org petition that captured nearly 70,000 signatures caught the attention of Taco Bell, forcing them to bring back the dish.
Taco Bell lovers in either of the trial cities can start trying out the new variations starting on December 22nd for a limited time.
