Migos member Takeoff has responded to the sexual assault lawsuit and claims.
As Baller Alert previously reported via TMZ, Takeoff is currently being sued by a woman who filed the lawsuit under the name “Jane Doe.” The woman is suing Takeoff for allegedly making her uncomfortable at an LA party back on June 22 and later raping her in the bedroom of the person she says invited her to the party, who turned out to be Takeoff’s DJ, #DJDurel. Takeoff denies the claims, and his lawyer, Drew Findling, has now responded to the lawsuit in a statement.
“We have reviewed the allegations and have similarly done our own due diligence. What has become abundantly clear is that the allegations made against Takeoff are patently and provably false.” The statement continued: “As his counsel, we are well aware and well versed on the importance of civil and criminal prosecution of true sexual assaults. This is not one of those situations.”
According to documents, Doe arrived at Durel’s home around 7 p.m., thinking the two would be going on a date, but when she got to his house, there were multiple people there in a party environment. Legal documents obtained by TMZ state the woman claims Takeoff stared her down while at the party, which prompted her to tell Durel, and he then offered to take her upstairs to his room. As the two were going upstairs, Takeoff was coming down. When Takeoff saw the two, an argument between Takeoff and Durel ensued.
Trying to steer clear of the altercation, the woman went into a bedroom to wait it out until Durel came in to meet her. She says that’s when Takeoff entered the room and began touching her without her consent. She says that she continuously denied his advances, but Takeoff instead flipped her over, forced her face down, pulled her clothes off, and raped her. When he was finished, she says he immediately left the room. The woman says she was in total shock but immediately went to the hospital where she claims the hospital “observed physical evidence of forceful rape and notified the Los Angeles Police Department of the same.”
The woman’s lawyer, Neama Rahmani, told Billboard that the LAPD has launched an investigation into the woman’s allegations. “We want Takeoff to be arrested, charged with felony rape, be convicted, to serve time in state prison,” he told Billboard. “Unfortunately, justice has been slow in this particular case. It is a month and a half since the rape, and no arrests have been made. I hope law enforcement continues to push their investigation forward and does so aggressively and in a more timely manner, but we don’t have control over that case.”
Takeoff, whose real name is Kirshnik Khari Ball, is being sued for damages over sexual battery, assault, false imprisonment, intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress, and gender violence, among others, according to Buzzfeed.
