Hip Hop artist and activist Talib Kweli has been very active in Ferguson for the last few days, rallying alongside protestors in hopes of getting justice for Mike Brown. Although we know media hasn’t done the greatest job of covering what has been transpiring on the ground, many of us who aren’t in Ferguson have been getting our news from social media. That’s where Talib Kweli and Don Lemon’s interview today starts off.
During CNN’s “Wolf With Wolf Blitzer” anchor Don Lemon takes a moment to speak with Kweli about his experience in Ferguson. Things start off okay until Talib mentions the media’s innability to accurately report what is happening. That is when Don Lemon interrupts him and things go 0 to 100 really really quick.
Talib names several instances where CNN dropped the ball in reporting. I kind of wish he would have brought up the point CNN made about the (black) police chief being a gang member because they mistook his Kappa Alpha Psi frat greeting for a gang sign. Don Lemon gets on the defensive while Talib literally hammers him. Not only does he mention that Don Lemon isn’t among the people, he even mentions that Don Lemon really had no interest in greeting/speaking to him in the first place. It’s hard to watch but Talib makes great points. Check it out below.Â
