Tameka Raymond-Foster is sharing details about her radio interview with Wendy Williams and how it negatively influenced her career.
During Thursday’s episode of The Breakfast Club, Tameka candidly discussed the challenges she’s faced, including the loss of a son, her mother, and two divorces, attributing the onset of these difficulties to her interactions with Wendy and Charlemagne.
“I think it started with you and Wendy, but we will get back to that,” Tameka turned and said to Charlamagne.
He questioned, confused, “Me and Wendy?”
“You were in the studio when I did my radio interview with her,” she said. “That was the first negative press run and it just spiraled from there.”
DJ Envy asked, “What was said during the interview?”
“I mean it was part of me getting kicked out the studio,” Tameka stated.
“Well let me explain, I met her in the Gansevoort hotel. One of my PR friends asked if ‘I ever met Wendy Williams,’ but Im from California I had not. I heard of her, but I didn’t know that she was like a shock jock Howard stern, black ya know.”
Tameka stated that she was introduced to Wendy as the stylist to the stars, which led the talk show host to invite her onto the show.
“I was thinking yesssss, this is going to be great for my career. Imma be on New York radio and talk about my job as a stylist.”
Yet, her expectations were shattered upon arrival to the show. She recounted being questioned about the sexuality of an unnamed individual and their relationship with their mother. (Presuming the reference was to Usher.)
Tameka said she was shocked when Wendy inquired about her clients, saying “That’s not why I’m here.”
Crystal Renay, Ne-Yo’s ex-wife, was also with her during the interview who chimed in and said “You should’ve did your research.”
Charlemagne said, “That’s your people’s fault.”
“Well I didn’t have people,” Tameka stated. “I met her one on one and she was just like be there in the morning.”
After that, Tameka explained that things went downhill, and she was eventually kicked out of the studio because she refused to answer Wendy’s questions about her clients.
“Im not in my clients business. I would never tell it, they’re paying me. I’m a stylist,” adding that Wendy is the one who actually kicked her out.
Tameka revealed that Wendy presumed she would spill the tea on her clients, but she didn’t anticipate that it would involve divulging their personal lives.
“I thought she was going to ask me like who had a nip slip, or who’s late to set, or who damaged the wardrobe. Like that kind of messy. Not, does he talk to his mother?”
DJ Envy laughed, “Yea, you didn’t do your homework then.”
She said, “Yea I didn’t know, I just thought it was a big opportunity.”
At the end of the clip, Tameka mentioned that Wendy launched a tirade against her for years, even discussing her in her documentary, which prompted other media outlets to join the bandwagon.
“She’s a man, she looks like a man she’s this, she’s guy, she’s old ya know,” she said. “I didn’t have a chance.”
