Tameka Foster, the ex-wife of Usher, is pushing for the draining of Georgia’s Lake Lanier following a tragic jet ski accident that took the life of her son, Kile Glover, eleven years ago.
This comes as part of a larger effort to address the history of accidents and fatalities associated with the infamous lake.
According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Law division, within the first half of 2022, there have been 14 boating-related fatalities, 67 injuries, and 114 incidents reported.
It’s estimated that 700 deaths have occurred at the lake since 1956.
Last week, Foster took to Instagram to honor her son and to shed light on the petition to drain the infamous lake.
She wrote, “On this significant day, July 6, we remember the tragic accident on Lake Lanier that forever altered my life. My courageous son, Kile Glover, fought for two weeks with unwavering strength until his passing on July 21. Today, we honor his memory by rallying together for change. Let’s ensure a safer future by demanding improved safety measures, better zoning, and the removal of haunted debris from the lake. Join me in signing the petition and sharing this vital cause. Together, we can create a fresh start and bring about lasting transformation. #JusticeForKile #SignForSafety #IWILLFIGHTTILTHEENDOFMYDAYS.”
