Tamika Mallory’s ‘State of Emergency’ Will Be the First Book From Charlamagne Tha God’s Imprint, Black Privilege

Activist and Time 100 honoree Tamika Mallory will make her literary debut with her book “State of Emergency,” which will also be the first release from media personality Charlamagne Tha Gods Black Privilege Publishing.

According to Variety, Black Privilege Publishing is a new imprint from Atria Books at Simon & Schuster led by Charlamagne Tha God, who is already the successful host of iHeartRadio’s “The Breakfast Club,” founder of iHeart’s Black Effect podcast network and set to host a forthcoming late-night talk show on Comedy Central.

This imprint will open new doors in the publishing marketplace to amplify Black and brown narratives and rethink traditional approaches to the publishing industry.

Mallory’s upcoming book is already being described as “a searing indictment of America’s historical, deadly, and continuing assault on Black lives.” The book “State of Emergency” will also explore how best to continue the country’s onward advancement and momentum toward true equality and social justice.
