The story of Emmett Till is a tragic one that has been told throughout American History. In 1855, Till, who was a 14-year old African- American boy, was kidnapped, brutally beaten, and shot in the head by a group of white men. His alleged crime was “whistling at a white woman.”
Taraji P. Henson explained how passionate she was about the project in an interview with Global Grind. Henson said she’d felt this way since the murder of Trayvon Martin in 2012.

The start date for production hasn’t been scheduled yet, but it’s definitely a go. “The Emmett Till Story” will be directed by #JohnSingleton, and Henson will play Till’s mother, Mammy Till-Mobley.
