Award-winning actress Taraji P. Henson has been announced as the host of the 2021 B.E.T. Awards.
Henson took to her Instagram on Monday to post the new goods, with the caption reading, “THAT’S RIGHT Y’ALL!! I’m SO excited to host the 2021 @BETAwards—Culture’s Biggest Night!.”
“I am honored to be sharing the stage with so many powerful and prolific women in music and entertainment. The B.E.T. Awards will once again be at the forefront of Black culture,” Henson said in a statement.
The star-studded night returns in-person after last year’s virtual show due to COVID-19 restrictions.
It was also announced on Monday that Academy Award-nominated and Grammy-Award winning star Queen Latifah would be receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award during this year’s ceremony for her three-decade career in music, film, and television.
The hosting gig will see Henson taking a brief break from her mental health initiatives. Last month, the “Baby Boy” actress launched “The Unspoken Curriculum,” a campaign that helps children discuss racial bias and mental health issues in school. She also recently partnered up with her best friend and foundation partner, Tracie Jade, to co-host the Facebook Watch show called “Peace of Mind With Taraji,” which earned them a nomination for “Outstanding Informative Talk Show Host” at the Daytime Emmy Award.
The 2021 B.E.T. Awards will air live on Sunday, June 27th at 8:00 P.M.
