Target Will Now Allow Customers to Add Starbucks Orders to Curbside Pick Ups

Target curbside

Target is becoming that store! If returns through the Target app weren’t enough, how about a Starbucks order? In the latest feature, Target gives customers the option to add on a Starbucks order with their curbside order.

The curbside feature grew nearly by 60% in the last year with the pandemic and all, so Target is looking for ways to ensure you get more through the app.

According to CNN, adding a Starbucks to the curbside order has been a high demand request from loyal customers making the one trip easy. “To use the new feature, shoppers planning a pickup or return can place a Starbucks order in the Target app and indicate when they’re ‘on their way’ to ensure a fresh drink or food item.”

The Starbucks chain has a decades-long licensing partnership with the retailer. The new feature will be available in the fall and eligible through select locations. And the latest feature will also be available for customers wishing to return items through the curbside service.

Target’s curbside orders have increased over time from allowing alcohol to another new feature, “backup items.” Like Instacart’s option, the “backup item” feature will enable users to select an alternative item they initially want out of stock or unavailable.

Target has “successfully substituted backup items 98% of the time.” CNN reports, “In its most recent earnings, Target pointed out that adding these services has expanded sales more than ten-fold since 2019, amounting to $1.4 billion in the third quarter 2021 alone.”

It looks like the Target app will have just more in store for customers throughout the years.
