A familiar face from the “Bad Boys” movies will be replaced in the franchise’s fourth installment.
Actress Tasha Smith is set to star as the wife of Martin Lawrence’s character Marcus in the upcoming “Bad Boys 4,” Variety reports. Theresa Randle previously played the role of Marcus’ wife (also named Theresa) in the first three “Bad Boys” films.
Smith is best known for her roles in Tyler Perry’s “Why Did I Get Married?,” HBO’s “The Corner” and Fox drama series “Empire.” She’s also directed episodes of “Our Kind of People,” “Mayor of Kingstown” and “Bel-Air.”
While the plot for “Bad Boy 4” has been kept under wraps, Will Smith and Lawrence revealed they were four weeks into filming at an appearance at CinemaCon last month.
Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have returned to direct, with Chris Bremner writing the film’s script. The movie will be executive produced by Martin Lawrence, Chad Oman, Mike Stenson, Jon None, James Lassiter and Barry Waldman. Will Smith, Jerry Bruckheimer and Doug Belgrad have also been named producers.
The fourth installment also features Paola Núnez, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig and “Euphoria’s” Eric Dane.
It’s unknown why Randle won’t be appearing in the film, but it’s been noted that she hadn’t acted in any tv or films for a decade before starring in the franchise’s third installment, “Bad Boys For Life.”
