Taylor Swift was reportedly in the works to perform at the upcoming Super Bowl game, but she later turned down the deal.
Sources close to the singer said she was approached with the offer from Super Bowl executives months ago. Taylor was asked to headline the anticipated event but decided to pass on the offer.
The pop singer chose to miss out on the opportunity due to her still being in the process of re-recording her albums.
If you’re not aware, in 2019, Scooter Braun and Big Machine acquired the rights to Taylor’s first six albums. Braun has since sold Taylor’s masters which made her vow to re-record them in effort of regaining ownership of the records. The singer have already re-recorded and released “Red” and “Fearless.”
Despite Taylor turning down the offer, sources say that she would headline the halftime show but the timing now isn’t applicable.
However, if Taylor records and releases her remaining four albums within the next year, it’s possible that she could take the stage in 2024.
Nevertheless, Super Bowl reps are still in the process of securing a female pop star for the special performance.
