It looks like the drama between Taylor Swift and the writers behind 3LW’s “Playas Gon’ Play” has finally come to an end.

After five long years, the copyright lawsuit that alleged the megastar ripped off the group’s 2001 hit was dropped on Monday. The decision was made after attorneys for Swift and songwriters Sean Hall, and Nathan Butler filed a joint stipulation to have the case dismissed.

Hall and Butler originally filed the lawsuit in 2017, claiming that Swift stole the lyrics from the 3LW single for her 2014 smash, “Shake It Off.” The record went on to reach diamond status, though the writers argued that it was due to their hard work. Earlier this year, Swift spoke out about the lawsuit, claiming that she’d never heard of the R&B group before writing her song.

In August, Kiely Williams, who is no longer involved with group members Naturi Naughton or Adrienne Bailon, urged Swift to inform her fans that the group itself had nothing to do with the case.

“I’m speaking for myself, but what’s right is right. Adrienne and Naturi didn’t write the song either. They don’t deserve any kind of flack for it,” Williams said during an Instagram Live session.

The timing of the lawsuit’s dismissal is particularly interesting since the case was scheduled to head to trial in January. Hall and Butler were seeking an unspecified amount of damages. This week’s filing didn’t include any information about whether or not a settlement had been reached.

Swift has not responded to the amicable resolution of the lawsuit.
