A Los Angeles-area teacher is under arrest after allegations surfaced that she was carrying on an inappropriate relationship with an underage student.
Amanda Quinonez, 30, was arrested Tuesday following an investigation into lewd acts with a male student, including sending him explicit photos. The Los Angeles Times reports that the Riverside County district attorney’s office is deciding whether to file charges.
On Wednesday, Quinonez was released from custody after putting up a $50,000 bond.
According to the letter sent to parents by Principal Dr. Greg Anderson, the school immediately contacted authorities upon learning about the alleged “inappropriate relationship.” He said the school district has “zero-tolerance for any behavior that endangers students.”
Quinonez works as a language arts teacher at Eleanor Roosevelt High School, just outside L.A. She also serves as the coach for the girls’ and boys’ water polo teams. She’s been employed at the school since 2016, and it was not made clear whether or not she has been placed on leave while the investigation remains ongoing.
