A new survey has revealed that teachers are being instructed not to talk about race or racism in school.
The results from a survey that included nearly 2,400 K-12 teachers and about 1,500 principals show one in four teachers are reportedly being told not to talk about race, racial bias, and racism as a whole during their class sessions, NBC News reports.
The survey, which the Rand Corp. conducted, also showed that one in four social studies and English teachers and one in four principals are being harassed about policies on race-related subjects being included in school curriculums.
“I have had parents come in and say, ‘If this is what you’re going to teach, my student doesn’t need to know about this,'” said an unidentified teacher who participated in the survey, NBC News reports.
On top of those findings, the survey reports that more than half of all teachers and principals aren’t here for an education on race being limited or removed, NBC News reports.
