Just when viewers thought the circus of a convention was over, they were proven wrong. How do you top day-one melee at the convention? You get #TedCruz to deliver his speech. Only a not-so-intelligent person would think that after you hurl disrespect at a man’s wife and continually childishly taunt a man, said man would then put a smile on his face and endorse you. Apparently logic isn’t on the RNC side. The RNC was under the illusion, GOP runner up Ted Cruz would endorse #DonaldTrump after he accepted the invitation to speak at the convention. It is unclear if the acceptance to speak indirectly gave the illusion, but at some point the idea Cruz would endorse Trump was given. In true Trump fashion, no one cleared Cruz’s speech and it was only at the end that convention attendees finally realized , Cruz was not endorsing Trump. His speech at the RNC was a nice plug for his campaign run in 2020.
The only time Cruz mentioned Trump name literally was when he congratulated Trump on the win. Other than that, he referenced parts of Trump’s campaign including the building of a wall between the U.S and Mexico border. When the crows chanted “endorse Trump”, Cruz smirked, “I appreciate the enthusiasm of the New York delegation.” It was then he was greeted by boo’s throughout the remainder of his speech. Cruz cautioned voters, “Please, don’t stay home in November. Stand, and speak, and vote your conscience, vote for candidates up and down the ticket who you trust to defend our freedom and to be faithful to the Constitution.” Cruz left the convention floor immediately following his speech.
Republican delegate Ken Cuccinelli, also anti-Trump, escorted Cruz’s wife, Heidi off the convention floor for her safety. Trump supporters screamed “Goldman Sachs” as she left. We all know how violent Trump supporters can get.
If you are wondering why convention attendees would scream “Goldman Sachs”; Heidi Cruz works for the company as an investment manager. The investment firm has a laundry list of scandals including improper funding. It was bailed out by the U.S. Government after it was hit in the financial crisis of 2008.
Critics have called Ted Cruz’s antics deplorable. Others referred it to as brave. Personally I think it was savagely petty. LOL
