Teen pro-skater Steven “Baby Scumbag” Fernandez, 15, fellow pro-skater Keelan Lamar Dadd, 27, and Fernandez’s manager, Jose Barajas, are in some hot water after the 15 year old skate star allegedly promised to introduce a 12-year-old girl to celebrities in exchange for sex acts with him, his manager and Keelan Lamar Dadd. Fernandez, who also goes by the name Baby Scumbag, supposedly even told the girl she could star in his (non-existent) MTV special.
The investigation began on November 13 when the 12-year-old girl told police that Fernandez had called her over to a car on Ventura Boulevard, making promises to her and telling her to get in. The car was driven by Jose Barajas, Fernandez’s manager. Fernandez then asked the girl to engage in sex acts with himself, Barajas, and 27-year-old fellow professional skater Keelan Lamar Dadd. Fernandez and Barajas were arrested on November 17 in a sting operation after cops pretended to be the teen girl asking to meet up at an abandoned home for sex. Dadd turned himself in on December 3. All three were booked on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14. Barajas’ bail was set at $475,000 and Dadd’s at $200,000. Both men bailed out, Fernandez was released to his mother and forced to wear an ankle monitor.
From what I can gather, the girl was living on the streets, essentially. Not homeless, but probably living the street life. She was likely persuaded with the thoughts of leaving he city streets and being around the rich and famous and was willing to trade sex for it. The fact that another child, and even two grown ass adults, thought this was okay, is disturbing.
On Wednesday Fernandez took to his Twitter account to apologize for his actions. “I feel like I’m letting so many down” and “Please don’t ever give up on me.” Fernandez’s lawyer says that Fernandez is just as much a victim as the other little girl and claims the adults were the masterminds behind this. “We feel personally that he is just as much of a victim as the other minor in the case … and that his celebrity status was preyed on by the adults who were arrested in the matter.”
