The teen who was denied a job at Six Flags because of his locs has just nailed a new modeling gig with Keke Palmer and Romeo.
Kerion Washington, 17, visited the show “Strahan and Sara,” and while there the teen explained to guest hosts, Palmer and Romeo, what happened with the amusement park. “It was one of my first jobs, so it was sad,” Washington said. “They pulled me out on the side in the hallway—it was embarrassing … they told me they can’t allow dreads.” He added, “[My mom and I] were both disappointed. We never expected this to happen. It’s just hair.”
Washington’s story eventually took social media by storm and caught the attention of IMG modeling agency, which then sent him to a local modeling agency to build his portfolio for a potential future partnership.
However, Palmer and Romeo wanted to expedite the process by offering Washington a paid modeling gig during their “Good Morning America” segment.
“We know you had dreams of modeling, so today, when we do our fashion segment, we’re going to give you your first paid modeling gig,” Palmer said. Romeo added, “We’re here for you and your dreads, my brother.”
