Two teenage boys drowned in a New Jersey High School pool that at least three lifeguards monitored. The siblings were identified as Mr. Zheng and Mr. Jiang.
The siblings were in the far-deep end of the pool at Lincoln Community Pool when the lifeguards noticed the two in distress. The lifeguards called 911, and paramedics arrived timely while the three lifeguards attempted to do CPR.
According to the New York Post, “The 16-year-old was a current Bayonne High School junior, while his 19-year-old brother had recently graduated from the school, according to Bayonne Public Schools Superintendent John Niesz.”
Niesz issued a public statement in regards to the teenage boys drowning.
“Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and to all our community. We will have additional crisis counselors and guidance counselors [Thursday] at all schools.”
The boys’ drowning has led to an independent investigation. The school is organizing a fundraiser on behalf of the boys’ family while the district is collecting gift card donations.
