Teenage Police Impersonator Caught After Trying To Pull Over A Real Officer

A Detroit teenage police impersonator is behind bars after trying to pull over an actual off-duty police officer during a fake traffic stop.

On Monday, at around 11:00 p.m. in Rochester Hills, an off-duty police officer reported that a silver BMW was following close behind her with flashing red and blue lights. The car attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the real officer was on to him. The impersonator was identified as 18-year-old Christian Katan Mansoor. He would eventually give up and drive around the officer, though she followed him. She soon caught up with him and demanded to see his identification. Mansoor claimed he was a Detroit officer with the 12th Precinct, but when it was time to retrieve his badge, Mansoor fled the scene.

The off-duty officer pursued the young man and ended up in a trailer park before she eventually lost sight of him. Authorities soon responded to the scene and located Mansoor attempting to switch license plates from his BMW to another car. He was immediately arrested and charged with a single misdemeanor count of impersonating a public officer.

Police are now urging the public to be vigilant of people posing as officers. Anyone who has been confronted by Mansoor, believing he was a cop, is to report the incident immediately.

“Thankfully, this individual was caught and is being held accountable for this incident. But if you had a similar incident with this described automobile or this pictured individual, please contact us,” said Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard.

Mansoor was released on a $5,000 bond.
