Tekashi 6ix9ine has found himself back in custody and is set to appear in federal court in New York on Tuesday. The 28-year-old rapper, real name Daniel Hernandez, was arrested for allegedly violating the terms of his supervised release, though the specific nature of the violation remains undisclosed.
Hernandez’s release in 2020 came after he served time in prison following a high-profile arrest in 2018 on racketeering and conspiracy charges. During his trial, Hernandez pleaded guilty and testified against members of his former gang, the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, a decision that significantly reduced his sentence.
In a separate incident earlier this year, Hernandez was arrested in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, facing domestic violence charges after an alleged altercation with his girlfriend, Dominican rapper Yailin la Más Viral.
Tekashi 6ix9ine rose to fame in 2017 with his debut single, “Gummo,” catapulting him to international stardom. However, his career took a sharp turn just a year later when he, along with other Nine Trey members, faced federal charges for racketeering, drug trafficking, and weapons possession. Facing over 30 years in prison, Hernandez cooperated with prosecutors, aiding in the convictions of gang members Anthony Ellison and Aljermiah Mack, who were found guilty of racketeering conspiracy.
