A Tennessee man allegedly strangled his neighbors’ kangaroo to death after it attacked his wife.
Now, I don’t how in the hell someone got a pet kangaroo but get into this story. Some folks in Tennessee have a pet Kangaroo named Carter who was strangled to death by his owner’s neighbors, Newsweek reports. The strangling happened after the animal allegedly attacked its owners’ neighbor’s wife while it was outside of his usual confinement area. At the time, the kangaroo was still fenced in on his owners’ – Hope and Chris Lea – property.
According to PIX 11, after Carter got out of his area, The Leas, who wasn’t home at the time, was contacted by their neighbors, who asked them how they could get him back in his confined section. The Leas told them they could feed the animal to help guide him back into the confinement. The couple let their neighbors know that they’d be back to handle the matter within an hour.
But police ended up arriving at their home by 5 p.m. after reports that the neighbors “had been in a battle with a male kangaroo.” Carter allegedly assaulted the female neighbor, and when her husband stepped in, he strangled the kangaroo to death. Reports show the two neighbors weren’t severely injured. Now, the Leas allegedly want to in some way be paid back for the loss of their pet.
“We’ve had Carter since he was a little nugget. It’s like losing a family member,” said Hope. “He didn’t have nowhere to go,” Hope added. “He was choked to death in his own space.” The couple said when they came home baby kangaroos were all surrounding Carter’s body. “I was screaming because all of the babies were standing around his dead body and I was just so upset,” Hope said.
