Tennessee Teen Shot And Killed His Mother Because She Took His Phone

A teenage boy in Tennessee has been charged with fatally shooting his mother in her head because she took away his cellphone.

Shawn Willis was 17 years old when he allegedly shot his mother, Sandy Willis, with the handgun she kept on her nightstand in their Rocky Top, Tennessee home in April 2020.

Willis allegedly confessed to taking the gun into a different room to load it without waking his mother before going back into her bedroom and shooting her at close range while she slept.

Prosecutors are charging the now 18-year-old Willis as an adult. He is charged with first-degree murder and held on a $1 million bond at the Anderson County Detention Facility.
