Tesla has recalled nearly half a million cars over safety issues with vehicles’ cameras and trunks.
According to Bloomberg, Tesla issued a recall for a little over 475,000 vehicles over camera and trunk defects. The first line of cars from the company to be recalled are all Model 3 cars, which came out in 2017 through 2020, Engadget reports. The concern over a person’s continual use of the trunk. Engadget reports that the trunk may break down the rearview camera’s coaxial cable over time.
The news outlet reports that if the cord becomes too worn down, it could cause the camera to lose signal completely.
The next recall includes 119,009 Model S sedans; the cars’ model years were 2014 to 2021. That recall involves a misalignment of the front trunk latch. The issue could cause the secondary latch from working and result in the trunk popping open while a person is driving.
The company says no one has been hurt or affected due to these defects; all recalled cars will be fixed at no fee.
