Tesla Recalls Nearly Thousands Of Vehicles Due To Faulty Self-Driving System

Tesla recalls more than 360,000 vehicles over malfunctioning driver assistance system.

The high-tech automaker has recently issued a recall for a handful of its cars due to a faulty self-driving system. According to the New York Post, the vehicles will now need an update after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found the system could increase the chance of car accidents.

The system allows the vehicles to steer, brake, accelerate, and switch lanes on its own. However, the safety agency believes the cars are operating unlawfully since the vehicles can accelerate above legal speed limits.

Last summer, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released data that showed nearly 400 vehicles with the advanced system were involved in accidents between July 1, 2021 and May 15, 2022.

The accidents caused six deaths and severely injured five people. The data showed that more than half of the vehicles involved in the accidents were Tesla cars.

Since then, the agency has been investigating 41 cars that features the self-driving system that were apart of accidents starting from 2016.

Nevertheless, the manufacturer will notify drivers about the recall by mail until April 15th and repair the vehicles using an over-the-air update.
