In a heartfelt and open message to Elon Musk, Tesla shareholder Gali recently took to X formerly known as Twitter, to express his concerns about the growing tension in America and its impact on Tesla’s brand. Gali, a devoted Tesla fan and longtime shareholder, voiced his discomfort with the way media portrayal and Musk’s outspoken political views have contributed to polarizing opinions about the company and its CEO.
Gali’s message started on a somber note, acknowledging the heavy atmosphere in the country and the increasing negativity directed towards Musk. He noted that while much of this negativity is media-driven, some of it stems from Musk’s own stubbornness and controversial social media presence.
“As a Tesla employee, fan, and shareholder, we constantly find ourselves defending and explaining Elon Musk’s actions,” Gali wrote. “It’s exhausting. I joined Tesla to help fight climate change and promote electric vehicles. I still love the company and fully support Elon, but this tension is getting overwhelming.”
Gali emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive and inclusive discourse, especially for someone as influential as Musk. He advised the Tesla CEO to be more cautious and thoughtful about his political posts, highlighting the potential consequences of provocative commentary, such as the humorous yet controversial videos Musk shared about Vice President Kamala Harris.
“There is no doubt material damage has been done to the Tesla brand,” Gali continued. “Every time I step into my car, it used to be about fun, positivity, and sustainability. Now, in every major US city, my car has become a political statement that is divisive. That’s disheartening.”
Gali, who has been a Tesla shareholder since 2011 and a Model Y owner since 2020, stressed that Tesla is more than just an investment for him; it represents a community he considers family. He expressed his admiration for Musk’s bravery and his willingness to speak up against the political establishment. However, he urged Musk to adopt a more inclusive and positive communication strategy, to help mend the divisions and enhance the company’s image.
In response, Elon Musk simply replied, “I hear you,” acknowledging Gali’s concerns. Whether this will lead to a change in Musk’s approach remains to be seen, but the message is clear: the Tesla community wants to focus on positivity and unity, and there’s a growing concern that current political tensions might undermine that vision.
