A Texas car dealer has been indicted for allegedly hiring a former Israeli soldier and two former U.S. Marines to kidnap and kill his mistress and her boyfriend.Â
Erik Charles Maund, 46, faces charges of conspiracy to commit kidnapping, kidnapping resulting in death, and carrying, brandishing, and discharging a firearm during a violent crime. The hitmen, who got paid $750,000 for the job, face the same charges as Maund.
Prosecutors said that Maund hired the three people to kill 33-year-old Holly Williams and 36-year-old William Lanway in March of 2020.Â
Maund, who sometimes visits family in Nashville, Tennessee, sent Williams a text message that read, “Good day beautiful!” He added, “Looking forward too (sic) later. I’ll meet you in the bar like last time. Text me when you arrive.”
A reply was sent by Lanway on March 1, 2020, asking for money. He threatened to expose Maund’s relationship with Williams.
That same day, Maund hired Gilad Peled, 47, who is believed to be a former member of the Israeli Defense Forces. He also contacted former U.S. Marines Bryon Brockway, 46, and Adam Carey, 30.
They planned to meet with the couple in Nashville at an apartment complex. Then, they would shoot the pair in their heads and dump their bodies at a construction site in the city, but away from the complex.Â
“The indictment also alleges that between March 11, 2020, and the present, Maund transferred in excess of $750,000, via wire, from his bank account to an account controlled by Peled, as payment to Peled, Brockway, and Carey for the kidnapping and murder of H.W. and W.L.,” the Department of Justice wrote in a press release. Â
Williams’ and Lanway’s bodies were discovered on April 10.
All four men were arrested on Friday across several states. In convicted, they face life in prison.Â
