A Texas man was taken into custody early Tuesday after allegedly trespassing at Mar-a-Lago, claiming he wanted to “spread the gospel” to Donald Trump and marry his granddaughter.
According to the Secret Service, 23-year-old Anthony Thomas Reyes scaled a perimeter fence at Trump’s Palm Beach estate shortly after midnight, triggering alarms.
“U.S. Secret Service personnel detained him without incident at the scene. Palm Beach Police officers responded to the scene and took the individual into custody, charging him with occupied trespassing,” a spokesperson told The Hill.
No members of the Trump family were present during the incident.
Reyes reportedly told law enforcement he intended to speak to Trump about the “gospel” and then propose to 18-year-old Kai Madison Trump, daughter of Donald Trump Jr., who recently turned 18, according to arrest records.
This wasn’t Reyes’ first run-in with Mar-a-Lago security. He was previously arrested for trespassing on the property during New Year’s Eve 2024. Following this latest arrest, he was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and entered a not guilty plea. His bond was set at $50,000, and the judge ordered him to avoid all contact with Trump and his family.
Kai Trump currently attends the Benjamin School and is committed to playing golf at the University of Miami.
