Police have arrested the man responsible for murdering five neighbors execution-style in Cleveland, Texas, ending the nationwide manhunt for Francisco Oropeza.
Five people were murdered in the residence next to Oropeza’s, including an 8-year-old child. Police claim that he used a rifle similar to an AR-15 while under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
Police have since recovered the weapon used in the deadly shooting, including clothes and a cell phone.
According to TMZ, Oropeza was firing his weapon in his yard Friday night when his neighbors approached the fence between their homes to ask him to stop firing his gun while their baby slept.
Police claim that Oropez grew furious and told his neighbors, “I’ll do what I want in my front yard.” He then went over to his neighbor’s property, went inside, and opened fire.
When Oropeza started shooting, at least ten people were present inside the home. Police say that most victims were shot from the neck up at close range.
A Ring doorbell camera allegedly caught Oropeza entering the residence, and three children were found inside the home covered in blood but unharmed. The women in the house were killed while trying to shield their children.
Initially, a judge had granted a warrant for his arrest, but Oropeza had gone on the run.
As of Tuesday, A tip led the police to a home in Conroe, TX, connected to a relative, where the fugitive was found under a pile of laundry in a closet.
