Texas “mother,” Tammi Bleimeyer, has been sentenced to 28 years in prison for causing serious bodily injury to her stepson, whom she kept inside a crawlspace the family called the “Harry Potter Room”.
In 2014, police discovered the child in terrible condition, malnourished and only weighing 29 lbs. Assistant District Attorney Stephen Driver said, “He looked terrible. He looked near death. He looked starved. He looked like a Holocaust victim. It was awful.” In a statement, officials said the child was sometimes given a slice of bread, which would be taken away from him if he took too long to eat it.
According to People, Bleimeyer and her husband Bradley lived in Spring, TX with their six biological children and her stepson. She was pregnant with her seventh child, who is now 4 years old, at the time of her arrest. Driver requested Bleimeyer be in prison long enough so that her youngest child would be 18 years old when she’s eligible for release, which in Texas, won’t be until she’s served at least half of her sentence. Driver told the jurors “to make their sentence mean something”…and this week, they did.
Bradley pleaded guilty to injury of a child and was sentenced to 15 years back in 2016. Bradley’s son is now in the care of his biological mother and said to be doing very well.
