The depiction of the zodiacs’ constellation illuminates due to an 18th-century technique called, piezoelectricity. Paying close attention to detail, the hand-applied blue background was made to mimic the night sky, and each zodiac sign has different features including white gold, yellow gold, sapphires, and diamonds.
