This garment is renowned among style historians, as it was famously adorned with 1,000 gold plaques and 300 carats of diamonds. Ironically, this is known as the world’s most expensive dress.
The Golden Bag was certainly the star of Rabanne’s Spring 2025 runway show, and the price of this unique piece only increased interest. With a staggering price tag of $278,353, the 1969 Golden Bag is the result of a carefully crafted collaboration between Rabanne and renowned jeweler Arthus Bertrand. Taking 100 hours to create, the sack’s interlinked gold discs add a futuristic elegance that has always defined the brand.
For those who don’t wish to spend over a quarter million dollars on this particular purse, Rabanne has a similar Gold 1969 Nano bag on its website, priced only at $1,050. Unlike its pricier counterpart, this one is made only of brass, not genuine gold.
