McLaren’s latest creation, the W1, has sparked the release of an extraordinary new timepiece. Richard Mille, the automaker’s long-standing partner, has introduced the RM 65-01 McLaren Automatic Split-Seconds Chronograph W1.
Richard Mille’s RM 65-01 is a fitting tribute to the W1’s incredible performance. Dubbed the brand’s most powerful watch to date, it’s driven by the high-performance RMA4C automatic chronograph movement, operating at an impressive 5Hz or 36,000 vibrations per hour. With the ability to track two times down to a tenth of a second, this timepiece showcases precision engineering at its finest. Its 480-piece movement, mounted on chassis rubbers, also features a “rapid winding” system, allowing wearers to quickly recharge its 60-hour power reserve with a Quartz TPT pusher.
Visually, the RM 65-01 is as striking as the supercar it’s inspired by. Its carbon TPT case, measuring 43.84 x 49.94 x 16.19 mm, boasts Richard Mille’s slimmest bezel yet, with a design influenced by the W1’s sleek lines. The skeletonized titanium dial mimics the pattern of the W1’s wheels, accented by pops of McLaren’s iconic Papaya Orange, which also adorns the crowns and the vibrant rubber strap.
The W1 is McLaren’s latest supercar, following in the footsteps of the legendary F1 and its successor, the P1. Like its predecessors, the W1 pushes the boundaries of design and performance, flaunting cutting-edge technology. Powered by a hybrid-assisted, twin-turbocharged V-8 engine that delivers a jaw-dropping 1,275 horsepower, this hypercar is perfectly crafted for wealthy car enthusiasts. Limited to only 399 units and carrying a price tag of $2.7 million, the W1 is a testament to McLaren’s commitment to exclusivity and innovation.
Like its automotive muse, the RM 65-01 is limited to 500 units and priced at approximately $374,000. However, it will first be offered to the 399 lucky owners of the W1 hypercar, leaving around 100 for avid collectors seeking to complete their McLaren-themed Richard Mille collection.
